Science Lab

Science Lab Facilities

  • Flexible spaces
  • A wide range of practical lessons across all science disciplines
  • Comprehensive utilization of all the features of current technology
  • Standard, improved and durable materials in lab
  • Positive environment factors: positive air quality, décor and natural light
  • Sink, running water access, and refrigeration
  • Storage cabinets and drawers to house hands-on instructional materials for science
  • Centralized safety features: Safety equipment, including an eye-wash station, fire extinguisher, safety goggles, first aid kit, materials for containing/disposing hazardous chemicals.

Significance

  • AIS ensures effective teaching and learning of science by involving a perpetual state of show and tell.
  • Science lab equipment allows students to interact directly with the data gathered. They get a first-hand learning experience by performing various experiments on their own.
  • Students are made to use the models to understand different scientific theories and concepts.
  • Anatomy Model, Physics science kits and chemistry science kits are used to make them understand the complex theories or concepts that are difficult to explain directly from the books
  • Our learners observe various things and carry out different experiments, their reasoning skills are honed and they start thinking deeply on those theories and concepts. Schools thus play a vital role in bringing up the next generation of engineers, doctors and scientists.
  • The science lab involves seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials.
  • Effective Learning of science by seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials.

Laboratory management

  • All the apparatus should be arranged subject wise in different shelves.
  • The glass apparatus must be kept in separate shelf.
  • The chemicals shall be arranged in alphabetic order.
  • The apparatus kept in the shelf should be regularly inspected.
  • Neatness, orderliness and cleanliness must be the motto of science teaching.
  • The walls of laboratory must be upgraded with decoration when needed with science related topics
  • No one should visit the lab without supervision of an expert or science teacher.
  • Any breakage of apparatus should be noted down in the breakage register

Lab discipline

  • No pupil should have a place assigned to enter the laboratory in the absence of teacher
  • Every student should have a place assigned to him/her where he/she will perform his/her experiment
  • Reagent bottle should be rearranged in the shelf immediately after the use
  • Waste filter paper burned up matchsticks etc should not be thrown up into sinks
  • Waste box should be kept in the lab
  • Drawing figures on the furniture should never be permitted
  • All unnecessary talks should be avoided and playing with the apparatus should be prohibited.
  • The work should be finished 5 minutes before the end of period, the apparatus should be disconnected, washed if necessary and replaced in their proper place.
  • A scientific atmosphere should be kept up
  • Those who finish their work should go to the writing table finish their record work.
  • The work done with discipline and care will be more effective and beneficial to students
